Sitting on Eric's porch in Barrington overlooking Narragansett Bay, we got this "Why not?" idea of swimming/kayaking around Barrington. We decided to do a leg from his house to the Barrington Beach to see how it would go. After enjoying that little adventure in 1998, we later decided in 2000 to swim more legs until we had gone completely "around" Barrington. Since our town is not an island, but a peninsula of sorts (though I've never heard anybody refer to it as such), we referred to our shoreline trip as a swim/kayak "around" our Barrington.
