Hugh Grace, apprentice stonecarver, works on a layout for a winneway beige granite headstone.
The John Stevens Shop, which produces magnificently crafted work, has run continuously for nearly 300 years (since 1705).
Three generations of Bensons have owned and run the shop since 1926.
The shop designed and carved all of the inscriptional work at the recently dedicated National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.
