Demolition of the old Jamestown Bridge.
The center span of the bridge is dropped into Narragansett Bay by many simultaneously controlled explosions. Additional explosions will occur later.
The old bridge was built in 1940 for $3 million and will be completely demolished and removed for $19.5 million.
It was replaced in 1992 (14 years ago) by the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge which stands immediately north of it.
Over Narragansett Bay between North Kingstown and Jamestown, Rhode Island.
